The project
High Park is the largest playground and splash pad project the City of Derby has built. ATHCO worked with the city's parks team from concept through installation, combining a custom Landscape Structures Hedra® triple-tower play structure with an Aquatix splash pad, SkyWays shade sails over the water play and seating areas, and synthetic turf surfacing throughout so the park drains fast and stays accessible.
Alongside the towers are net climbers, a hillside slide and a Global Motion® spinner. The splash pad combines ground sprays and above-ground features for a range of ages. SkyWays sails shade the picnic shelter and the splash pad seating.
Because the city purchased through ATHCO's Greenbush cooperative contract, it purchased against the contract already bid through Greenbush's RFP process. ATHCO coordinated permits with the City of Derby, scheduled the installer, and handled the synthetic turf and drainage subcontract as a single package.
