The project
Derby Public Library wanted its new outdoor children's garden, Rhythm & Read Park, to have water play that fits a library setting: small-scale, quiet, and safe for toddlers. ATHCO's Matt Cline produced the Aquatix design proposal in April 2024, and ATHCO delivered the splash pad as a subcontractor to Snodgrass & Sons, submitting concrete, feature and mechanical-enclosure shop drawings for the library's project team.
The MecH2O® recirculation enclosure is wrapped in custom DigiFuse graphics.
The pad's features are scaled for toddlers and young children. ATHCO managed four change orders during construction within the contractor's schedule. It is a good reference for libraries, churches and small municipalities considering a splash pad under 1,500 square feet.
