The project
Rotary Park sits on Railroad Lake in Blue Springs, and its playground was due for replacement. ATHCO handled the project end to end: removing the old structure, footings and Engineered Wood Fiber (EWF) surfacing; regrading to the existing sidewalk; and installing a new Landscape Structures tower with enclosed tube slides, net climbers and boulders laid out around a synthetic-turf "river" that winds through the site.
A prefabricated berm with a crawl-through tunnel, bay swings and spinners give younger children their own zone. Two SkyWays sails shade the seating and the top of the slide tower. The whole surface is synthetic turf over drainage, so the park reopens quickly after rain and is accessible to wheelchairs and strollers.
The city bought through ATHCO's Greenbush contract, with ATHCO managing the demolition subcontractor, prevailing-wage installation, temporary fencing and site restoration as one scope.
